The MTN Ghana Foundation has partnered FreelunchGH to providing educational tools and nutritious food for children in KorleGonno Community Library in KorleGonno, Adabraka both in Accra and Annoff in Nsawam.
At the launch of the MTN Ghana FreeLunchGH initiative, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Robert Kuzoe said, “Christmas is all about sharing and the MTN Foundation is happy to part of this unique celebration.
He said, “our support is also in line with MTN’s Season of Surprises promotion currently being run across the country.” The MTN Season of Surprises is to connect to customers by giving away thousands of gifts in December.
The Free Lunch initiative was started on the 19th of December and ended on the 22nd of December. The celebration was also held in three communities.
The program allowed children to learn and have fun. The children were also tasked to show their understanding of the importance of education in Ghana through a staged talk show. During the program the children also exhibited their spelling skills as they were clustered to compete against each other in a “Spelling Bee” competition.
MTN Foundation gave out souvenirs to encourage them to keep up the impressive work. The children who were more than a 1000 were treated to good food and music at the various locations.
FreelunchGH is a non-governmental organization focused on nourishing both the bodies and minds of children in need of support. The organization executes weekly educational projects through partnerships with enlightening institutions such as libraries where they do not only provide lunch for these children but also read and share knowledge to build the mind and character.
The Foundation also sponsored two other Christmas parties for children and donated medical equipment valued at GH¢129,500 to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
